Goopy Tuesday!

Tuesdays #4-6:

The past few Tuesdays have been memorable, but not eventful, so I will not bore you with the details of my leisurely Tuesdays.

To sum it up, they have included various things from thinking on the very nature of a Tuesday, amazing organization, pretty sunsets, happy children, angry children, good coffee, great books, Pandora (which I just discovered!), and Mexican food.

I will share my thoughts on the nature of a Tuesday. It seems to me that Tuesdays are the day without a “thing.” For instance:

Sundays=church days for most people in the South, or the last day of the weekend
Monday=first day of the work week
Tuesday
Wednesday=hump day
Thursday=almost Friday
Friday=last day of the work week
Saturday=the weekend at last

Tuesday is inherently left out of the weekly checklist. This is the greatness (and the frustration) of trying to have 52 Memorable Tuesdays in 2009. Not even two months into the year, and some Tuesdays I struggle to find the memorableness of the day.

blue-goopMemorable Tuesday #7: GOOP!

Perhaps the greatest thing about being a preschool teacher is being able to get your hands dirty in art or science projects.

Goop is a simple science project in which you mix cornstarch, water, salt, and food coloring. It makes a great and somewhat fascinating tactile experience.

With clouds looming on our afternoon, we were forced to stay inside and play, and there’s nothing like an interesting science project to wile the afternoon away.

I mixed all the ingredients together while my class of fifteen three-year-olds looked on amazed at how the water was absorbed by the cornstarch. Then we added the food coloring, oh the excitement! We mixed blue and yellow, of course to make green goop. Each child got an opportunity to play with the goop, and of course I took the opportunity to play with it myself to make a quite memorable Tuesday!
